All hail Queen Cersei

Quick sketch that ended un being heavily revised: Cersei Lannister in the iron throne.  Should have been as quick as the previous Danny sketch, but have too much love for Cersei to not tweak it. The original quick sketch, which is the one below, was very elongated, looked a lot like Briggite Bardot, and was posed slightly different.  But kept the head.  So I decided to re-draw it and clean it up.  It's a work in progress for the moment, but it's okay to post with the other one

Dany Targaryen quick sketch

As a working mom I feel I am never caught up with ANYTHING!  Watching season 4 of Game of Thrones in my lunch break at work.  I love Dany!  I had to do a quick sketch.  It was done in Storyboard pro, which doesn't have the finest of brushes when it comes to gradations or transparencies, but hey I think they worked up pretty good.  The eyes were retouched in photoshop, and I actually think I should have left the SB pro ones.  But hey, it's all about the sketchin'

Foreshortening Exercise

I am getting back to the blogworld and stuff after some 4 years of raising babies.  Here is a sketch inspired by a clothed figure class drawing from the mega-talented Chuck Pyle, the head of the Dept. of Illustration at AAU in San Fran, where I got my Fine Art degree.   The exercise was foreshortening.  I added the beer and the atomic chair.  I have been watching Lost Girl, so her face slightly resembles Emmanuelle Vaugier.

Water Tribe

A Katara pinup for my friend Johane Matte's online comic Water Tribe on Deviant Art.  This is fan-fiction and her amazing version of Zhao's life after being dragged away by the Sea Spirits on the Northern Water Tribe invasion at the end of Avatar Season 1.  Check it out: it's awesome art and a page turner!  Be sure to start from file 1...

Anime News Network interview

Anime News Network interviewed me last week and I shared my experiences in art, illustration and animation with Evan Miller, who expressed my thoughts much better than I could ever have  :) Thanks, Evan, for an amazing article.  I am usually super shy when talking about myself in venues like these, which dramatically decreases coolness, hehe. But none of that here.

And being an anime website, I decided to draw a pinup in homage of the first graphic novel I got my hands on back in Monterrey way back when: Yukito Kishiro's  cyberpunk story "Battle Angel Alita". This was definitely a big influence in my drawing for years, and it still is.  I also collected "Aqua Knight" which I found dear because of the Spanish names included.  And of course for the great art and the water themes.  I should do a pinup of Ruliya too, with the Orcas.

This drawing was sketched in blue col-erase, but then I "inked" it digitally in the cintiq....I think Im falling in love with it....specially the History button.....It was supposed to be a black & white illustration, like from the graphic novel, but I ended slapping quick colors on it... and I'm glad I did.
